Users will have the option to utilize the AI Question Generator and the Text Leveler while using Customized Content.
If you are new to creating Customized Content visit the How to Create Customized Content article before proceeding.
To create a question using AI, the required selections include a Studies Weekly Online Publication, Question Type, and Question Topic. Optional choices include a Grade, Difficulty Level, and a Prompt.(In the context of AI, a prompt serves as a starting point or specific request.) After a question is generated, teachers can adjust the results with another specific prompt or Apply the question to their Customized Content.
Current Question category types available for AI:
To create an AI generated question, select a question type. (The orange robot icon, Scout, indicates that AI is available.)
The next option allows you to create your own question with answers or to utilize the Generate Questions button to have a AI create questions.
When selecting the Generate Questions option, the required fields include Publication, Question Type, and Question Topic. The questions that are generated will come from within the text of the selected publication. The optional fields are encouraged and will provide more context, ensuring the AI generated question is relevant.
Select Generate Question to view or edit the AI generated question. Users will preview the question and can optionally request AI to make a change to the question or choose Apply for the question to be created. The last generated question is automatically selected.
Once a question has been created, users have another opportunity to review and edit before saving. You can opt to use AI to Adjust the results for a better fit, or select Apply to move on.
If you Adjust the results for a better fit, use the checkmark to select the original question or keep the new question.
After choosing Apply, the text within the question and answer options are editable. Additionally, the Point Value, Language, and highlight color of the question can be changed in the same way as when creating your own Customized Content question.
Selecting Save adds the question to your Customized Content. You can then add additional questions or scroll down to Assign the content to students.
Just as with regular Customized Content, once a student begins, the original can no longer be edited and a copy must be created.
Teachers can use AI to adjust the reading level of both Studies Weekly Online Articles and their own uploaded text.
To use the Text Leveler, select Article or Text from the Item category.
After selecting Article, choose a Publication, Week, and Article. Then, select Edit to adjust the reading level of the article text.
Users can edit text themselves in the article block, or select Adjust Article Level to choose a new Grade Level option to have the text adjusted using AI. Text can be adjusted 2 grades above or below with the exception of K-1 articles. Text can still be manually changed after changing the grade level with AI. Scroll down to view the new text.
Use the Back button to return to the previous step or select Apply to edit the updated text and remove images.
Select Save to add the article to your Customized Content. You can then Add another question or choose Next to assign the Customized Content to students. (No audio GIF.)
The Text Leveler will do the same when you upload your own text. Choose Text from the Item category and paste into the question box. Then follow the same steps as above to adjust the text. (No audio GIF.)
