Utilizing Google Translate in Studies Weekly Online

Teachers and admins can enable Google Translate for students who require language support, as well as for their own use. When Google Translate is enabled, all text included on Studies Weekly Online pages will be translated.

 Note

Google Translate cannot be enabled for students in New York State because it does not comply with with the Student Privacy Law, Education Law 2D Part 121.

Enable Google Translate for Adult Users

To enable Google Translate for yourself, open Account Settings in the Profile Menu. Then enable the Google Translate Toggle to blue.

The page will automatically refresh and the Google Translate option will appear in the top navigation bar. Use the Select Language bar to change the language. (GIF no sound.)

To quickly turn translation back off for your Studies Weekly Online account, use the Options dropdown above the top navigation bar and choose Turn off translation for this site or click the X next to the dropdown. (GIF no sound.)

Enable Google Translate for Students

Some students could benefit from having Google translate enabled. Teachers can enable it for one student at a time or for all students in the People section.

Once Google Translate is enabled, students can log in and select their language.

 Important

The Audio Reader will only read and highlight text in the publication's original language. Any embedded videos with audio will also remain in the original language.

Family account holders can also enable Google Translate for their accounts, just like a teacher or admin. The Navigating the Family Dashboard article provides instructions and can be shared with families.
