Cache and Cookies

Browsers save some information from websites in their cache and cookies. Clearing them can fix specific problems, like loading and formatting issues on site. 

There are multiple browsers available for use in the market today. Here is a list of the most commonly used browsers for PC and Mac users. Google Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox. 

Other popular devices used by students are iPads and tablets. These devices have browsers preinstalled by the manufacturer already. But users can install Google Chrome and Firefox on iPads and tablets too. 

 

Google Chrome
  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More.
  3. Click More tools. Clear browsing data.
  4. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
  5. Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
  6. Click Clear data.
Safari
  1. From the home screen, Select Settings > Safari.
  2. At the bottom of Safari's settings screen, Select Clear cookies and data or Clear Cookies and Clear Cache.
  3. Confirm when prompted.
Edge
  1. Open Microsoft Edge, select Menu (3 dots icon on the top right corner of the browser) > Settings > Privacy & services.
  2. Under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear.
  3. Select "Cached images and files" and "Cookies and other site data" check box and then select Clear.
Firefox for Windows
  1. Click the menu button  in the upper right corner of Mozilla Firefox.
  2.  Choose Library in the drop-down menu.
  3.  In the Library panel, go to the History section.
  4.  Click on Clear Recent History.
  5.  From the drop-down menu next to Time range to clear, select Everything.
  6. Tick all the checkboxes, then click the OK button.
Firefox for Macs
  1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and select Preferences.
  2. Select the Privacy & Security panel.
  3. In the Cookies and Site Data section, click Clear Data
  4. Remove the checkmark in front of Cookies and Site Data.
  5. With Cached Web Content check marked, click the Clear button.
iPads

  1. Close fully out of the browser

     Note

    If the customer cannot close all browser tabs, skip this step and perform all other actions. If the issue persists, users may need to close and restart their browser and Clear Cache again.

  2. Reopen Safari and navigate to a non-Lexis website.
  3. Navigate to the Settings App.
  4. Tap Safari on the left side.
  5. Tap Clear History and Website Data.
  6. Tap Clear History and Data.
Chromebooks
  1. Tap the three dots in the top-right corner of the screen, hover over “More Tools,” and then select “Clear browsing data.”
  2. Check the boxes next to Browsing History, Cookies, and Cached Images and Files.
  3. Click Clear Data.
Android Tablet
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app.
  2. At the top right, tap More.
  3. Tap History. Clear browsing data.
  4. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
  5. Next to "Cookies and site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
  6. Tap Clear data.
